what is reiki?

Reiki (Universal Life Force Energy) is the source energy with which all is created, connected and sustained.

Developed by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 1900's, Reiki is an alternative Japanese healing therapy in which life force energy is channeled to the client through the palms of the practitioner. It is used for the promotion of spiritual alignment, stress relief, deep relaxation and treatment of physical, emotional, and mental ailments.

The term REIKI was derived from the combination of the two Japanese words

REI :Universal  +  KI :Life Force Energy

Similar to the study of physics, it is the belief that everything in our natural world is composed of energy and all stem from the same energetic source.

The term Chakra in Sanskrit is wheel.

Chakras are energy centers within the body that assist in regulating organ function, immune systems and emotions. The 7 main Chakras are positioned along the spinal column (your main meridian line) from the base of your spine to the crown of your head. Each Chakra has it's own vibrational frequency, colour, organ association and manages specific functions that help to make you, well, human.

When our Ki (life force energy) is low or blocked in either of our 7 major energy centers (Chakras) or other areas within our body, we are more likely to become stressed or ill.

During a Reiki session, the practitioner acts as a conduit for Reiki Energy (Source Energy) to be channeled in through their crown chakra and out the palms of their hands directly into the clients body for the purpose of physical, emotional and mental healing.

Although techniques among practitioners may vary and each experience is profoundly unique, a Reiki session is often described as a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. With Reiki treating the clients entire being (body, emotions, mind and spirit) many beneficial effects such as feelings of deep relaxation, release, serenity, and wellbeing are often described.
